"Who are You?" - 1996

Painted plywood - 8' x 80' x 1/2" - Boston, MA.

As part of the "Big Dig" Central Artery/Tunnel Project in Boston, Massachusetts a series of panels entitled "Who are You?" were installed on Atlantic Avenue. The purpose of this artwork was to provide pedestrians a visual connection, through the cutouts, to the construction site; and provide an artwork with which the public could interact.

The figure/symbols that make up "Who are You?" are not meant to be looked at as objects but rather to contrast their shapes with those of passing pedestrians. In making these comparisons one is struck by the similarities and differences of the human condition. The symbol figures allow for psychological as well as physical comparisons.
