"Thurston" - 2015

Commissioning Agency: Fitchburg Art Museum

Commissioned for the front entry of the Fitchburg Art Museum in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, this steel sculpture depicts a monumental figure positioned between two columns supporting the museum bridge. The title, “Thurston,” was selected through a naming contest based on essays written by students from the Fitchburg public schools.

The sculpture was fabricated by students in the Welding and Metal Fabrication Department at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School (“Monty Tech”) in Fitchburg, MA, under the guidance of the artist and instructors Tim Wright and Darrell Goodall.

The artist gratefully acknowledges the dedication of the students, teachers, and staff at "Monty Tech." Their hard work and support were essential to the successful completion of this project.
