Ozymandias By Douglas Kornfeld Commissioned by the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, MA and funded, in part, by the The Nathaniel Saltonstall Arts Fund. The artwork is 18' x 18' x 16" and is built of plywood and steel. The work, which appears to be a partially buried contemporary male icon, was inspired by the poem Ozymandias, published in 1818, by the British poet Shelley. The artist was also inspired by drawings of partially buried Egyptian monuments made by 19th century artists who traveled with Napoleon when he invaded Egypt in 1798.
